The Emotional Body Good Reads - 1
The body sure does! This was the most profound book I have read about trauma so far, and I just got started on my search. It gave me insight on how the physical body can become separated from the mind. Bessel talks about extreme cases of trauma such a molestation, returning from war, being in a car accident, and domestic violence. But trauma can be acute as well. Global trauma such as 9/11 or even during our pandemic crisis right now. Bessel is a trailblazer in the field of trauma. He was tired of patients being thrown general diagnoses and still not be helped. He tried endlessly to change the coding of the system and finally succeeded. He found the solutions to be varied. One was solution was talking, to trust and be heard. Some medicine was helpful. And finding ways to regulate their nervous system. I highly suggest reading this book if you have suffered trauma or know someone who has. It's an enlightening look into their world; how they can be supported, manage, and process their trauma to live a joy-full life once again.
